Speaking of: I'd like to further explain what I saw from mystic on the shoutbox. Update 2023-05-06 - Stretch Patch
"mystic: The game has been patched: the size of Elasto/Stretch is now limited to preserve gameplay. May 6, 2023 at 5:35am"
The match links provided by them no longer show the match, but you can probably type in "neuronball stretch" into an image search and see what they mean.
To further expand on this, there were cases where players had stretch neurons who had extremely low strength, causing the neuron to bloat out extremely fast during higher-NWL games, to the point where quite a few people thought it was cheating/hacking. It may have been an exploit, but it was definitely not hacking, at the very least.

Posting my own opinion separate from the patchnotes.
Imo, it was funny to see, and I actually liked spectating games with them in, but I do understand why some tryhards more competitively-inclined people didn't like it. It definitely did ruin the balance of gameplay, if exploited.
A suggestion, or a compromise: Sadly, I think stretches aren't as viable as they were anymore. If you actually want to use their skill to its full extent, you need to have a lower strength, but in doing so, risk having it be rendered stunned/electrified for half the game. I agree that having 1 (or worse 2) neurons taking up the field to the point where they clip out of the stadium, rendering the game unplayable, should be a thing of the past, but this does need to be addressed, as it shouldn't be a complete nerf. Here are a few suggestions.
- I think the size should be a bit more than just 3-4 times the regular neuron size
- Maybe when it gets to max size it gets a boost to its strength (maybe +level)? Just so it doesn't constantly spin out of control?
- I wish that stretches could still bloat out to their infinite size during friendly matches though, due to it being, well, friendly.
Another way that'd be harder to implement, but would make everyone happy, would be to have a toggle in the options for "stretch patch", automatically turned on. If both players in a match have it off, the stretches could be free to be funny again, even in non-friendly matches.
As for now: My advice? If you have a stretch, ditch the helium if it's low-strength. You can now use Ag-Au for a better result. If you're really struggling with strength, I suggest using U-Pu for the time being, until you can bear to use Ag-Au, Li-Poly, or N-Cu, depending on your playstyle.
I really hope that someone finds the perfect balance as to what the strength should be now...

I agree with you Burmins ... but let's not forget that the designers of the game had "benchmarked" the various "special bots" before the September update ( apparently at low level without sufficiently testing the "strength" factor for toughs and stretches). Let's not forget that "elastos" are the first, next to "ecos", specials accessible to noobs - a kind of "angry" of the "poors", just superior to standard bots - but which should not beat - in the spirit of the game - special bots from same level much more expensive to build and more powerful like 'elite' and 'angry'... Before wanting to change in depth a type of neuron it is in my opinion desirable to appreciate their power well at high levels (28+). The recent exploit has been known for years but it finds its limits in high level abuse... Alas ^^

The recent exploit has been known for years but it finds its limits in high level abuse... Alas ^^ I apologize for any confusion. In short, they're being a bit aloof. :/ The september update is talking about when they added special neurons (the non-standard ones) Toughs have two main ways of being played, one is with very low strength added, and the other is with standard/slightly higher strength. The first way makes them very fast, but if not properly balanced, causes them to die out in the middle of a match. Same with stretch neurons, but the more extreme version of the first way has been patched. themagpies If you want any factory special neurons, feel free to reach out to me (ingame, discord, or forum dms), and I'll make you one for cheap. Usually I sell at factory price + tax, but I'd be willing to sell it cheaper than factory price, even if I have to shoulder some cost.
As for "the spirit of the game" mystic , I mean no harm in saying this, but I don't think it's right to call casual players like me "the poor". I believe the stretch/elasto should be used with higher-tier neurons to give this game less monotony in higher levels. All neurons have their uses, and give flavor to the game. This includes standard bots as well (they are a lot cheaper to repair, see the player *shrug* for an example). I am far from appreciating the power of level 28 neurons, but I can see what you mean by keeping the strength of something balanced. My stretch is fairly thought-out, but for those more affected by lack of strength after the patch, I'll update my earlier post.
