Im consistently getting matches where my team with 30ish games played is matched up against teams that have anywhere from 100-1000 matches played and of course I get stomped every single time. Is this supposed to be balanced around NWL? If so then how is anyone supposed to be able to ever improve if people with better parts and neurons have the same NWL that the newer people do?

Matches DOES NOT equal team quality/ability.
A team with Level 12 Neurons with good parts and a good formation VS a team with Level 18 neurons with poor parts and poor formation - the Level 12 Neuron Team will probably win.
It is based on NWL, and except for the people who purposely try and cheat the system to gain more XP by constantly going up and down the rankings, teams who have a lot of neurons and change their team often, and the teams who have made an improvement (and therefore the team is better and will rise up easily suddenly), matches will be fair.
Not to mention every team has advantages and weaknesses. If you come against a team which can exploit your weakness, you will probably be thrashed, yet that isn't because of unfair matchmaking, it is purely because of the way the teams are.
Also, factors which effect a team quality:
- Neuron Level - Neuron Parts - Formation - Headquarters (playfield mostly) - Motivation - Health - XP Points Distribution - Support - Boosts
I repeat. Matches DOES NOT equal team quality.
