I'm taking this message from the shoutbox, it definitely is a good idea, but could prove unbalanced if implemented just like that.
gooseknuckles: Is there any way to go back to an old component you had for a neuron without buying it all over again? I switched my goalkeeper to a higher leveled AI component, but I think it's playing way worse. I wanna switch back, but I have to buy it all over again.. May 18, 2023 at 3:30pm
First off, this would definitely not work for batteries. People would exploit this almost immediately.
They should stay the same, were there to be any changes.
For AI and Processors/CPUs, I can definitely see this as a W
I don't think it should be completely free to switch though. The price should either be credits, but discounted, or be a time-limit where you can't switch for a certain number of days.
As for the discounted credits, either it could be a flat 50% discount, or have one of the buildings in the headquarters be able to discount the price. Common sense tells me that it should be the factory, as it already makes neurons, why not also add the ability to make AI/CPU for cheap instead of "importing" it from who-knows-where. Another option could be the maintenance center, as it is in the theme of repairing your neurons.
The research center could lock different tiers of AI/CPU from being able to be swapped, but I feel that's going overboard for just a single fix.
For those who would say "it's impossible to do this only for AI/CPU without doing it for batteries too", for higher-level neurons, CPU and AI can be reverted to Silicium I and Utility I, but the battery can only go 3 levels down from the top one (if you have a level 6 battery as your maximum available on a neuron, you'll only be able to go down to a level 4 battery, nothing lower.)
The framework is already in place.
